{"id":1980,"date":"2024-05-11T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-11T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/?p=1980"},"modified":"2024-05-11T15:46:33","modified_gmt":"2024-05-11T15:46:33","slug":"aurora-borealis-spotted-in-bath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/2024\/05\/11\/aurora-borealis-spotted-in-bath\/","title":{"rendered":"Aurora Borealis spotted in Bath"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not the phrase I was expecting to write, as every time the Aurora Borealis had been strong enough to view here previously, it was either cloudy, I&#8217;d missed hearing about it until afterwards, or it just wasn&#8217;t visible at all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But last night I had the camera set up ready (indoors &#8211; I didn&#8217;t want to be outside for hours!), in the hope I might get lucky. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"863\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1975\" srcset=\"https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora1.jpg 863w, https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora1-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora1-768x456.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Aurora wasn&#8217;t actually visible by eye &#8211; it just looked slightly cloudy on the horizon (where you can see the purple colour on the photo above), and it just looked a bit lighter above the tree. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, when you look at the screen on the camera, you could make out the green &#8211; and it certainly came out in the photos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"863\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora2-plane-e.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1976\" srcset=\"https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora2-plane-e.jpg 863w, https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora2-plane-e-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/padfoot.org.uk\/bath\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-11-aurora2-plane-e-768x456.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 10 second exposure means you get the light trail effect from a passing plane, which complimented the Aurora.
