  • Another Bird of Prey

Taking a walk towards the nearest National Trust owned area, I’d wondered if I would be able to see any buzzards. Walking through a field, I spotted a Kestrel that seemed focused on something in the long grass. It landed in the field, before taking off again – I have no idea what it was looking…

  • More Buzzards!

For a bird of prey, Buzzards certainly like to announce their arrival. Their high pitched whistle-like call is pretty easy to identify, and usually means there’s a chance of a semi-decent photo! Ok, the first photo is relatively blurry, but the Buzzard was swooping down into a field, so I had a split second to take this…

  • Eerie Mist

The valley in the distance is usually good for misty scenes, and this one is no exception! The cloud seems to sink just beyond the treeline, giving a very Autumnal look to an August evening. #30dayswild

  • Acrobatics

I’m not sure if the Buzzard is trying to taunt the gull, or swoop away from it, but it certainly looked like an unusual angle to be flying! Strangely enough, the gull just ignored the Buzzard- normally the gulls gang up and ‘mob’ the birds of prey. Maybe there’s no youngsters to protect now, so…

  • Woodland Panorama

A simple photo for today – a panoramic view of a woodland area I walked past the other day. The trees haven’t been ‘managed’ for a long time and it gets used as a shortcut on a frequent basis. There are plans however, to cut down some of the Sycamore trees to make space for the…

  • Badger trails?

We’ve seen a badger walking up the grassy pathway nearby on a number of evenings, and this is possibly part of its route from a local field. The gap in the trees is just high enough for a badger to get through – not tall enough to fit a Roe Deer through, and certainly not large enough…

  • Buzzy Bees

No, this wasn’t taken in a garden – this particular plant is growing near a retaining wall quite close to the road. A favourite with the bees, I was able to catch a photo of two bees gathering the nectar – all the other bees were moving too quickly! #30dayswild

  • Reflected sunset

It’s not so much a sunset, but a reflected sunset for today’s photos – yesterday there was too much cloud in the west to see the true sunset, but the light tends to reflect off the clouds, so you get the sunset colouring to the east instead!   #StayWild #365DaysWild

  • Wispy clouds

There were some unusual cloud formations today, but these wispy clouds caught my eye – they were just so different to the usual fluffy clouds. #30dayswild

  • Screeching Buzzard

The screeching call of the local Buzzard prompted me to get out for a walk around the block. I hadn’t gone far before I spotted a load of crows all circling nearby. Wondering if something had spooked them, or if they were just flocking around a source of food, I took a few steps further and was treated…
